UAE Makes Arab World History by Including People of Determination in Sportex International Artistic Swimming Championship

The 12th edition of the Sportex International Artistic Swimming Championship will take place on Saturday and Sunday, May 17–18, 2025, at the Mohammed Bin Zayed Sports Complex in Abu Dhabi. This year’s event brings together athletes from eight countries, including Egypt, UAE, South Africa, Latvia, Turkey, Hungary, Singapore and Belarus, reinforcing the championship’s reputation as one of the leading artistic swimming events in the region and beyond.

The tournament will feature over 200 female athletes representing 14 sports clubs, showcasing the growing popularity and competitiveness of artistic swimming across the globe.

In a historic first for the Arab world, this edition will witness the inclusion of People of Determination in the competition—a groundbreaking step that makes Abu Dhabi the first Arab city to host an official artistic swimming championship that features this category. This milestone reflects the UAE’s ongoing commitment to inclusivity in sports and its dedication to integrating all segments of society.

The competition will feature a diverse range of categories, including solo, duet, team, masters, and People of Determination divisions, providing a comprehensive platform to highlight athletic talent, resilience, and the spirit of determination.

Organized by Sportex, a pioneer in artistic swimming development in the region since 2010, in cooperation with the UAE Swimming Federation, the championship continues to strengthen the sport's presence locally and regionally while fostering an elite, inclusive, and empowering competitive environment.

This year's championship underscores the UAE’s vision of empowering communities through sports and promoting diversity, integration, and achievement for all.
