Work is underway to expand the coverage of public transport projects to include most medium and large cities in Saudi Arabia, Rumaih Al-Rumaih, Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics and Acting President of the Public Transport Authority, told News 24.
Speaking after the launch of the operation phase of the public bus transport project in Tabuk, Al-Rumaih said he expected the number of cities with public transport projects to reach 25.
At present, public transport projects are ongoing in 16 cities, with upcoming projects in Al-Ahsa, Abha, Khamis Mushait, and other cities, said the official.
According to Argaam's data, Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Tabuk Region, inaugurated on May 6 the actual operation phase of the public bus transport project in the city of Tabuk.
The operation includes a modern urban transport network covering five main routes with a total length of 136 kilometers, operated by 30 modern buses driven by 90 qualified Saudi drivers. The buses stop at 106 stations distributed across the city, connecting the main vital locations in Tabuk and facilitating daily movement for citizens, residents, and visitors.
