Madinah, Saudi Arabia — The National Water Company (NWC), represented by its Northwest Cluster, announced that it has completed the implementation of its operational and technical plan for water distribution and management in Madinah during the first Hajj season of 2025. The company reported distribution of more than 22 million cubic meters of water through a smart operations system that ensured high quality and efficient services to the pilgrims.
The company stated that its operational plan for this season included the development of a smart operations system to expand monitoring of water supplies in the central area and religious sites in Madinah. The plan also included the deployment of 1,203 personnel, including technical, engineering, and administrative staff, along with maintenance teams equipped with modern tools and machinery to handle all necessary tasks.
NWC further noted that the operational plans for daily potable water distribution included continuous 24/7 pumping to the Prophet’s Mosque and the other religious sites, with a daily distribution rate exceeding 630,000 cubic meters, and an average of 775 water quality lab tests conducted each day, totaling 27,125 tests, to ensure full compliance with approved water quality standards and specifications.
The company pointed out that it had recently launched a development phase for its smart operations system, which monitors water supply in Madinah. This included increasing the number of devices measuring water flow, supply, and quality in real time. These enhancements are expected to significantly improve the quality of services provided to pilgrims and visitors to the Prophet’s Mosque, ensuring enhanced performance, operational efficiency, and service continuity at the sought levels of quality.
NWC attributed the completion of its operations plan to coordinated efforts across all relevant departments, strategic and operational planning, and unwavering government support. This achievement reflects the Kingdom’s broader commitment, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, May Allah protect him, to delivering world-class services to pilgrims and enabling them to perform their rituals with ease, safety, and peace of mind.
